A change of scene, without a long time away
A bag packed for a few days. A table booked somewhere you have been wanting to try. A morning with no usual routine, just coffee and a new neighbourhood to explore. Sometimes a short break is exactly what you want to have in the diary.
The trick is choosing a trip that fits the time you have. A lovely location and a comfortable base can leave more room for enjoying yourself. Think about what you want the weekend to feel like before trying to fit everything in.
What sort of weekend are you in the mood for?
Food, culture and a few new streets
Choose a city break with room for a gallery, a market or a walk through a different neighbourhood. Pick one main thing each day, then let the spaces in between lead you to something unexpected.
Sea air and a slower start
A coastal base could mean a morning walk, lunch with a view and an afternoon spent doing very little. Think about whether you want everything close by or are happy to travel around once you arrive.
A few days to celebrate
For a birthday, anniversary or time away together, one thoughtful extra might make the trip. It could be a particular restaurant, a room you love or tickets to something you both enjoy.

A little shape for your weekend
Friday: arrive and find your feet
If your journey allows, check in, take a gentle wander and settle somewhere for dinner. Keep the first evening simple so the break starts feeling like a holiday.
Saturday: one plan, plenty of possibility
Choose the experience you most want to enjoy, then leave the rest of the day open for a long lunch, browsing or a quiet hour back at your hotel. You do not have to see everything.
Sunday: make the last morning count
Take time for breakfast or revisit a favourite spot, with enough space for the journey home. The actual plan will depend on your travel times, so we can work around those rather than rushing.
The little details matter on a short trip
Look at how much time you will actually have there, not just the number of nights. Departure times, the airport journey and the location of your accommodation can change the feel of a weekend. A convenient base may be more useful to you than extra facilities you will barely use.
Tell me if you prefer to walk, want a quieter place to sleep or need particular access arrangements. If there is a restaurant, event or experience you especially want, mention it early so it can be considered when planning.
Make it yours
- Which days can you travel, and is there any flexibility?
- Do you want a lively city, a coastal base or somewhere quieter?
- What is the one thing you would love to do?
- What budget feels comfortable for the whole break, including the things you plan to do there?
